For this freelance project, I was asked to create branding for a new jazz band. The brief was very open with the client only discussing an interest in vintage jazz posters. From this theme, I carried out research into the style and imagery from this era and applied inspiration to a moodboard to show the client. The client really liked the organic shapes and bright colours from the moodbaord which informed the direction of my designs. I used an altered serif typeface for the logo as it reflected the vintage feel of jazz posters and it didn’t conflict with the busy, vibrant background. For the business cards I used accents of gold foil to highlight the logomark on the back of the card and also to reflect the gold shiny colour of polished jazz brass instruments.
