The task was to re-design the season brochure, with an aim of engaging a younger audience into the theatre. The client wanted to update the cover to create a design that can be part of a suite throughout the seasons so that a connection can be drawn between them but without mistaking them for the previous season’s brochure. The client was keen to modernise the look of the brochure and to step away from having heavy colour backgrounds which compromised the legibility of the text.
The re-designed brochure consists of a modern design which aligned closely with the theatre’s logo, using the triangular light shape as inspiration for the shapes and angles throughout the brochure. New fonts were chosen, with a rounded sans-serif font selected for headings which complimented the round letters in the logo. A new colour palette was created which took inspiration from the logo gradient and provided a vibrant colour palette which could be used as a genre key for the shows. The image frames take inspiration from the logo angles and include unique shapes which also link to the month tabs, date boxes and quote boxes – creating a cohesive look throughout the brochure. The cover design includes a burst effect of shapes which spread out on the front cover and host shows imagery with some images extending out from the frame. Colour gradients spread across the cover and are updated for each season to create a suite of season brochures that link together whilst also show a clear difference from the previous season.
